There’s nothing quite like an evening at Chastain Horse Park, and the annual Peachtree Road United Methodist Church Preschool Auction was a perfect example of why this Chastain Horse Park event stood out. Their “Off to the Races” theme fit the setting beautifully — combining Southern charm, a touch of Derby flair, and an atmosphere full of joy and generosity at one of Atlanta’s most beloved venues.

A Warm Southern Welcome

Guests arrived to a truly memorable greeting — a horse from the stables stood at the entrance, creating a photo-worthy moment and setting the tone for a night to remember. Inside, the cocktail hour began with passed hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks that fit the theme beautifully.

The featured cocktails included Mint Juleps, Kentucky Mules, Transfusions, and Vodka Cranberries with sweet and sour and triple sec — a nod to classic Southern gatherings. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of appetizers: open-faced pimento cheese canapés, spicy pork empanadas, mini beef Wellingtons, and deviled eggs.

An Evening of Celebration and Community

As the sun set over the park, guests explored an impressive silent auction spread across the garden level and patio. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and views of the rolling equestrian grounds made for a stunning backdrop.

After cocktail hour, guests made their way upstairs for the live auction — always a highlight of this event. The auctioneer’s lively energy kept the crowd engaged, helping raise meaningful funds to support the preschool’s programs and scholarships.

Dinner and Desserts to Remember

Dinner was served from two chef-attended food stations, offering a mouthwatering variety of Southern-inspired favorites.

The first station featured whiskey-glazed chicken, barbecue pork rollups, low country shrimp and grits, homemade mac and cheese, skillet cornbread, and twice-baked potato casserole. The second served old south sausage and cheddar bites, buttermilk fried chicken tenders, wild mushroom ravioli, southern green beans, and seasonal vegetables.

To finish the evening, guests enjoyed a trio of desserts — chocolate mousse cups, mini carrot cakes, and key lime tartlets — the perfect sweet ending to a lively night.
