When Natalie and Nic envisioned their Atlanta rehearsal dinner, they wanted a celebration that honored Southern culinary traditions while feeling fresh and elevated. Chastain Horse Park provided the perfect backdrop for this vision, with its blend of rustic charm and refined elegance creating an atmosphere that felt both welcoming and special.

Chastain Horse Park has become one of Atlanta’s most sought-after venues for rehearsal dinners, and it’s easy to see why. The venue offers the rare combination of natural beauty and versatile event spaces that can transform to match any couple’s vision. For Natalie and Nic, the setting provided an elegant yet relaxed environment where their closest family and friends could gather before the wedding day.
The venue’s layout allowed for a natural flow throughout the evening, from cocktail hour to seated salad course to the main buffet, creating distinct moments that kept the celebration feeling dynamic and engaging.
Working with Avenue Catering, we designed a menu that celebrated Southern culinary traditions with refined execution. The evening began with passed hors d’oeuvres that set a welcoming tone: open-faced pimento cheese canapés (a Southern favorite) offered both with and without apple smoked bacon, alongside fried green tomato sliders topped with baby arugula and chipotle ranch dressing.
These opening bites immediately established the evening’s theme: familiar Southern flavors prepared with care and presented beautifully.
Guests were then seated to enjoy a pre-set house salad featuring candied pecans, craisins, red onions, and blue cheese crumbles with champagne vinaigrette. This pause in the evening allowed everyone to settle in and connect before the main event.
The buffet station showcased the versatility of Southern cuisine, offering something for every palate while maintaining a cohesive culinary story. The grilled tenderloin of beef served with red wine reduction, horseradish aioli, and grainy mustard provided an elegant centerpiece, while barbecue pork roll-ups brought playful Southern flair.
The Low Country shrimp and grits station proved to be a guest favorite, allowing everyone to customize their bowl with toppings like cheese, scallions, and bacon. This interactive element added a fun, personal touch to the buffet experience.
Goat cheese ravioli with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and artichokes in white wine sauce offered a lighter option that still felt special and indulgent. Sides of twice-baked potato casserole and green beans almondine rounded out the spread, providing classic comfort alongside the more innovative dishes.
The evening concluded with a dessert station featuring mini key lime tartlets and chocolate ganache tarts with fresh whipped cream. Positioning the dessert station upstairs added a sense of discovery and gave guests a reason to explore the venue while extending the celebration naturally into the evening.
Alexis Lunsford beautifully captured the evening’s warmth and joy, documenting both the carefully prepared details and the genuine moments of connection between family and friends. These images serve as lasting memories of a celebration that perfectly balanced elegance with the warmth of Southern hospitality.
The success of Natalie and Nic’s rehearsal dinner came from thoughtful planning that put guest experience first. From the welcoming passed appetizers to the customizable shrimp and grits station to the upstairs dessert discovery, every element was designed to create moments of delight and connection.
Natalie and Nic’s celebration demonstrates what makes Chastain Horse Park such an ideal choice for rehearsal dinners. The venue provides the flexibility to create your own vision, whether that’s a formal seated dinner or a more relaxed buffet-style gathering.
